Centre selects Sirhind block for 'Dhan Lakshmi' scheme
Fatehgarh Sahib, July 24 (UNI) The Centre has selected Sirhind block of Fatehgarh Sahib district for implementing 'Dhan Lakshi' scheme for the well being of the girl child.
Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner Ashok Singla informed here today that this scheme is being implemented in 11 blocks of the country and Rs 82 lakh will be spent under the scheme during current financial year.
He said Fatehgarh Sahib ADC (General) has been appointed Nodal officer for this pilot project under which the parents will be given a staggered cash incentive to ensure the good health and well being of the girl child.
To be eligible for the money, the parents would have to fulfill certain conditions, such as registering the birth of the girl, following the immunisation schedule, enrolling her in school and not marrying her till she turns 18, he informed.
