AIDS spreading fast in Mysore: official
Mysore, Jul 24 (UNI) There are at least 54,059 AIDS victims in Karnataka and of them, 5,722 are in Mysore, District Health Officer Raju said today.
Speaking to newsmen here, he said the state is in the third place in the country in the list of the AIDS-affected and the number of patients is increasing year by year.
To prevent the epidemic, the government and various organisations are conducting programmes to create awareness among the high-risk people, he added.
Out of the 5,722 in Mysore who are affected by the lethal disease, the condition of 1,436 is serious.
The drive to prevent the spread of the disease and create awareness among the public was being taken on a war footing, he said.
