Sanitary Inspector beaten up by shepherds
Rajkot, July 23 (UNI) A sanitary Inspector of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) was today allegedly attacked by some people from Bharvad (shepherds) community at Dasijivanpara area here, during a drive to catch cattle that stray onto the roads.
The incident took place in the wee hours, when a irate group attacked the vigilance staff as they were catching the cattle on roads, Corporation sources said.
The seriously injured Sanitary Inspector J K Vaja was admitted to a hospital, sources said.
Following the incident, the employees of the RMC went on a flash strike, closing down the offices of Central, West and East Zone.
It may be recalled that earlier on July 9 two members, including Assistant Sub Inspector of vigilance squad and a labourer were attacked by people of the same community during a similar drive, at Vaishalinagar area.
