Hyundai ships i10 to Sudan

New Delhi, Jul 23: Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), a subsidiary of South Korea-based Hyundai Motors, today shipped the first consignment of its disassembled knocked down (DKD) cars-- i10 to Sudan.

With an order for more than 2,000 units, the first shipment comprises of 96 units of i10. Earlier, the company was shipping Santro cars to the Sudanese market. ''We are today embarking on a new journey with the shipment of the first consignment of DKD cars, which is also a first for us as well as the automotive industry here in India. DKD units offer certain advantages to importers and this automatically makes imports a lot more attractive,'' company Managing Director H S Lheem said in a statement.

Hyundai i10 has received export orders for over 1,00,000 units in less than seven months from diverse countries, spanning different continents, it added.
