CPI (M) expels Somnath Chatterjee from party

New Delhi, Jul 23 (UNI) The CPI (M) today expelled Somnath Chatterjee from the membership of the party with immediate effect.

''This action has been taken under Article 19 Clause 13 of Party Constitution for seriously compromising the position of the party,'' the CPM said in a statement here.

The decision to expel Mr Chatterjee was taken by the party Polit Bureau at its meeting.
