Ceasefire agreement with ANVC extended
Shillong, Jul 23 (UNI) The Ceasefire Agreement for Suspension of Operations with the Meghalaya-based underground outfit A'chik National Volunteers' Council (ANVC) has been extended for an indefinite period.
Official sources said here today that this decision was taken at a meeting of the representatives of the Centre and Meghalaya government as well as ANVC at New Delhi.
The meeting discussed the functioning of the Suspension of Operations Agreement and reviewed the observance of the agreed ground rules.
The Agreement for Suspension of Operations with the ANVC, a proscribed outfit active mainly in the Garo hills district, was signed on July 23, 2004 and periodical extensions took place.
