Assam Cong celebrates trust vote victory

Guwahati, Jul 23: The Assam unit of the Congress today celebrated the UPA's victory in the trust vote in Parliament by taking out a motorcycle rally and bursting firecrackers at the state party headquarters here.

State party general secretary Haren Das also hoisted the party flag to celebrate the victory and spoke on the significance of the Indo-US nuclear deal.

Meanwhile, the Assam unit of the BJP observed a black day at the party office, terming yesterday's act of ''buying MPs'' as the worst chapter in the history of Indian democracy.

BJP state president Ramen Deka led his party's members in the dharna.
