2 Britishers, one Indian acquitted in molestation case

A division bench, consisting of Justices Bilal Nazki and Sharad Bobde, while aquitting Britishers Duncan Grant, Allen Water and Indian William D'souza, in their order said that the accused have been released due to lack of evidence aginst them.

The trio was convicted by the Sessions Court in March 2006, to suffer rigorous imprisonment, ranging from seven years to five years.

The accused later appealed to the High Court, stating that they were being falsely implicated by the police, due to vested interests of some people.

Colaba Police had arrested Grant and D'souza in Mumbai. Water was brought from the UK, as he ran away after the offence was registerd in the city.
