CM congratulates PM, Sonia, seeks operationalisation of deal
Panaji, Jul 22 (UNI) Congratulating Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on winning the vote of confidence in Lok Sabha, Goa chief minister Digambar Kamat today said the debate in the House exposed the chinks in the Opposition.
Reacting to the victory, the chief minister, in a message said, the debate showed that the Opposition was in total disarray and their speakers lacked confidence as well as commitment to their stated positions.
The Chief Minister said the nuclear deal should now be made operational at the earliest in the interest of the nation.
''I look forward to our country becoming self-sufficient in energy in the near future as well as a resounding victory to the Congress Party in the 2009 elections,'' Mr Kamat said.
Meanwhile, MP Francisco Sardinha and former Union minister Ramakant Khalap expressed their happiness at the passing of the confidence vote in favour of the UPA Government.
They also congratulated the Prime Minister and Ms Gandhi for having taken this bold step in the interest of the country.
This victory was for progress of India, they added.
