BJP conspired to save UPA govt: Mayawati
New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) BSP supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, who had emerged as leader of the non-BJP camp opposed to the nuclear deal, today alleged that the BJP had conspired to save the UPA Government in the Lok Sabha to prevent the rise of a dalit leader.
Reacting to the UPA Government winning the trust vote, she said their victory was the result of a collusion of interests of the Congress and the BJP.
Ms Mayawati said both the Congress and the BJP were very worried when they found that the Left, UNPA and some more regional parties had floated the idea of installing her as the prime minister.
These parties never wanted that a dalit woman should rise to that level, she said.
She said her party would continue to fight against the policies of the UPA government.
The Left, the UNPA and the BSP had emerged as a strong combine opposing the nuclear deal just a few days ahead of the trust motion.
BSP's arch rival Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh supported the Government on the deal issue and played a very crucial role in saving it.
