Virar commuters stage 'rail roko'
Mumbai, July 21 (UNI) Commuters from Virar on the Western railway today staged a ''rail roko'' agitation, between Nallasopara and Virar railway stations, demanding increase in frequency of trains to Virar.
They disrupted the local train services for more than an hour, in the peak hours.
Some of the protestors were also agitated as they do not get seats, even in the trains that start from Virar, since the commuters from UP line come down, railway police said.
The protestors also ransacked the Nallasopara station, police said.
Additional tracks have been laid between Borivali to Virar, but passenger organizations are of the opinion that it has not resulted in a proportional increase in services.
