UPA will be defeated in Trust Vote: CPI
Vijayawada, July 21 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) National Executive Member K Narayana today claimed that the Congress-led UPA government would be defeated in the trust vote in Parliament.
Addressing a press conference here, he said the Left parties were not opposing the Nuclear Deal, but were against the Hyde Act. The Left had withdrawn their support to the UPA as it was ignoring the sentiments of millions of Indians by its inclination to sign the deal with the US, he alleged.
Mr Narayana, who is also the party's Andhra Pradesh unit Secretary, said the Nuclear Deal envisages that the American Parliament would review the deal every year and decide whether it should be continued.
Eventhough India is the largest democratic country, the UPA had surrendered to the imperialist America, he charged.
He also alleged that there was no difference between the Congress and BJP on the Nuclear Deal as both were the two sides of the same coin.
When asked to comment on China signing nuclear agreement with the US, he opined the issue would be decided by the Chinese people and his party was not supposed to speak on the issue.
He said the UPA was formed, with the outside support extended by the Left in 2004, based on a Common Minimum Programme (CMP).
However, during the last four years, the UPA had totally violated the CMP and even entered into the nuclear agreement with the US, which was not included in the CMP, he alleged.
