UPA has 276 MPs, will prove majority: Pranab
New Delhi, Jul 21: Foreign Minister and Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee stated here on Monday, July 21 that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government had the support of 276 MPs.
Mukherjee asserted that it would prove its majority in the confidence vote being held on July 22 over the Indo-US civil nuclear deal. He urged the Opposition and the Left to base their case on facts and not to distort facts on the nuclear deal. "Advani is twisting the facts," he said. Mukherjee accused the Left of destabilizing the Government and said, "Left withdrew and the Samajwadi Party stepped in. With the support of the SP's 39 MPs, we are now 276."
He further assured, "UPA will never compromise on national interest."
