Train services disrupted due to crack on track

Tiruchirapalli, July 21 (UNI) The train services between Tiruchirapalli Junction and Tiruchirapalli town were badly affected due to a crack on the track between Tiruchirapalli Railway Junction and Golden Rock Railway Station here late last night.

Railway sources said the crack was noticed by a gangman at midnight last night, who informed the matter to the higher officials. Subsequently a number of trains were detained at several stations.

Chennai-Sengottai Podhigai Express and Chennai-Tirunelveli Nellai Express were detained for 71 minutes and 68 minutes respectively at Tiruchirapalli town station.

Chennai-Madurai Pandian Superfast Express was detained at Srirangam Station for 62 mins, Trivandrum-Chennai Express at Golden Rock Railway Station (52 min) and Rameswaram-Chennai Express at Tiruchirapalli Railway Junction (65 mins).

Traffic was restored after the track was set right at about 0400 hrs today.
