K'taka Govt apathy forces Pramila to move to Jharkhand

Madikeri, Karnataka, July 21 (UNI) Ace athlete Guddanada G Pramila who is representing the country in Heptathlon along with J J Shobha of Andhra Pradesh and Susmita Singh Roy of West Bengal in the Beijing Olympics was forced to move to Jharkhand due to apathy shown by the Karnataka Government.

Talking to UNI here, Pramil, who hails from Kodagu District, said that she regretted that "though I was in the field since last 15 years and have brought laurels by winning many national and international tournaments, the Government of Karnataka failed to recognise encourage and she was forced to move to Jharkhand." Pramila, who participated in Sydney Olympics had finished 24th.

Pramila, who is training under her husband and coach Aiyappa, expressed confidence of winning medal in the Beijing.

Pramila and Susmita Singh Roy got qualified for the Beijing Olympics in the recently held National Combined Events in Bangalore.

J J Shobha has already qualified.

Pramila had won silver in Asian tracks held at Jakartha in 2000.

She finished 14th in the International championship held in Canada in 2001.
