Devotees took dip in Ganga on auspicious Monday
Kanpur, July 21 (UNI) Thousands of devotees today took a dip in the sacred river Ganga and paid obeisance to lord shiva here on the first Monday of the holy month of Sravana.
A large number of devotees thronged the bank of river Ganga stretched from Bithoor to Sidhnathan in the early hours and took ritual ablution at various ghats.
Later, they offered 'pooja and archana' at the Shiva temples on the bank of river Ganga.
Brahmavart, Jageshwar, Anandeshwar, Sidhnathan temples were tastefully decorated and attracted huge crowd of devotees.
The district administration had made tight security arrangments to prevent any untoward incident. Besides CCTV cameras were installed at Anandeshwar temple.
A large number of police were garrisoned at the river bank and the temple premises.
