Bombs hurled at CPI(M) office in Kannur

Kannur, Jul 21: The CPI(M) branch office - Azhikodan Mandiram - at Kannothumchal, was attacked allegedly by BJP/RSS activists on Monday, July 21.

Police said three country-made bombs were hurled at the office at 0130 hrs. Police recovered two bombs from the site and impounded three motor bikes. Activists of CPI(M) and BJP clashed at Kannothumchal bus stand area on Sunday, July 20, two BJP/RSS actvists were hospitalised at the district hospital here with minor injuries following the incident.

Police view this as a retaliatory attack of the Sunday incident. A large number of police were deployed in the area. Meanwhile, a CPI(M) worker sustained stab injuries on his leg at Pappinessery under Valapatanam police limits when a five member gang, allegedly National Development Front (NDF) activists, ''attacked'' him on Sunday, July20.
