978 pilgrims leave for Amaranth cave
Jammu, Jul 21 (UNI) A batch of 978 pilgrims escorted by the security personnel today left for the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath situated in south Kashmir from Yatri Bhawan.
Official reports said that 978 pilgrims including of 628 males, 142 females, 34 children and 174 sadhus left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp amid tight security in 30 vehicles comprising 23 buses and 07 Light Motor Vehicles.
Despite inclement weather, there were no reports of landslides and suspension of yatra en route Srinagar as heavy rains lashed the outskirts of the winter capital early morning.
The two-month long yatra commenced on June 18 from here So far, around 5 lakh pilgrims from across the country had darshans of the natural ice-lingam at Amarnath cave.
