84th Punjab State Athletic Championship concludes

Patiala, Jul 21 (UNI) The 84th Punjab State Athletic Championship concluded here today at the Punjabi University without any spectacular or outstanding performance.

In Shot-put, Gurpreet Singh of Jalandhar (17.04m) held the first position in men category while in women Manjit Kaur of Punjab Police (10.94m) emerged winner.

In boys category, Gurpreet Singh of Ferozepur (15.95m) emerged winner in under-16, Gurwant Singh of Patiala (14.60m) in under-18 and Navroop Singh of Taran Taran (15.88m) in under-20.

In girls, Satbir Kaur of Amritsar (8.72m) held the first position in under-20 and Gurwinder Kaur also from Amritsar (10.84m) bagged the first position in under-18.

In Javeline, the first positions were held by Talwinder Singh of Jalandhar 51.89m in boys under-18, Harminder Singh of Punjab Police (69.70m) in men and Rupinder Kaur of Jalandhar (41.48m) in women.

In Long Jump (men), Ranjit Singh of Punjab State Electricity Board (6.47m) stood first while in boys under-20 Gurjant Singh of Ropar (6.82m) bagged the first position.

Athletics Federation of India president Sardar Umrao Singh presided over the concluding function, while Raj Khurana, Parliamentary Secretary, Punjab, was the chief guest.
