13 more accused sentenced in fodder scam
Ranchi, Jul 21 (UNI) The designated CBI court today pronounced sentence on 13 other accused, all suppliers, in connection with one of multi-crore fodder scam cases unearthed in 1990s.
With this, only 12 more accused in the particular case, all of them officers, including senior IAS officer Sajal Chakravartty, were now awaiting judgement to be pronounced tomorrow.
In today's judgemnent, the court of CBI special judge B K Sahay awarded three to seven years of rigorous imprisonment with fine ranging from Rs two lakh to Rs 1.25 crore. If there is any default in the payment of fine, the imprisonment would increase for another six months to one year.
The court could not pronounce judgment on Sajal Chakravorty, transport commissioner, because he was still in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences for medical assistance.
The case was regarding illegal withdrawal of nearly Rs 39 crore from Chaibasa treasury in 1993-1994 and Sajal was Deputy Commisioner of the district during that time.
