1 more succumbs to rain-related disease, toll at 52
Mumbai, Jul 21 (UNI) A 40-year-old man today succumbed to leptospirosis at the civic-run Rajawadi hospital, taking the death toll due to rain-related diseases in the metropolis to 52, since the onset of monsoon this year.
The patient, who was admitted on Saturday, died early this morning, civic officials said.
It may be noted that 4 people succumbed to malaria in the various civic run hospitals on Saturday last, taking the toll of dead due to malaria to 14, out of the total 52 deaths.
According to civic officials, of the 232 patients admitted to various civic-run hospitals in the last 24 hours, 164 people have been admitted for fever, 43 for gastroenteritis, one for leptospirosis and 24 for malaria.
