Ten held in connection with school headmaster's death
Kozhikode, Jul 20 (UNI) Ten people were taken into custody in connection with the death of a school headmaster in Malappuram district in Kerala today.
Malappuram DYSP K K Ibrahim said the accused, owing allegiance to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), were secured for interrogation.
Valillapuzha-aided Lower Primary School Headmaster James Augustine, who was on his way to attend a re-orientation programme, fainted and later died in a hospital yesterday.
He had reportedly sustained injuries during a protest demonstration by IUML activists demanding withdrawal of the controversial text book at Kizhisseri town in Malappuram district.
Meanwhile, the ruling Left Democratic Front in Kerala called for a 'harthal' today in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts in protest against the incident.
