No question of extending outside support to Maya: BJP

New Delhi, Jul 20 (UNI) The BJP tonight trashed the suggestion that it had promised its outside support to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati for the premiership after toppling the UPA government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh and said there was no question of considering such a proposal.

Taking part in a television debate, BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley said there was no question of propping up Mayawati for the premiership as alleged by Congress spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

''The BJP has already projected its leader L K Advani as the next PM candidate,'' Mr Jaitley said.

Mr Jaitley said the NDA had clearly occupied the Opposition space and if at all Mayawati and her BJP were to make any attempt to aim for the top post of the country, it would be the Congress which would suffer and be reduced and relegated to the 'Third Front' position, Mr Jaitley remarked.

Earlier, after the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting, the party expressed its preference to face the polls and said that was the only way out after an ''imminent fall'' of the Congress-led UPA coalition government.
