Major, constable killed; 3 injured in Rajouri encounter

Jammu, Jul 20 (UNI) An army Major was among two people killed and three others were critically wounded in the ongoing encounter with the militants today in the Thanamandi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.

''The fierce battle between the security forces and the militants started early morning in which one army officer Major Bhanu Pratap of 43 Rashtriya Rifles and a head constable of Special Operation Group (SOG) Anjeev Rana were killed,'' the sources told UNI.

Two army jawans and a police constable were also critically injured in the encounter in Kunda Nallah near the Shahdara Sharief area of Thanamandi, they said.
