Govt, N-Pact will be doomed on Jul 22: Karat
New delhi, Jul 20 (UNI) Armed with the support of the anti-Nuclear deal forces like the BSP, JD (S), RLD, TDP and others, CPI(M) top boss Prakash Karat today claimed that the UPA government and the Nuclear pact will be doomed during the July 22 trust vote.
Briefing mediapersons on the party two-day Central Committee (CC) deliberations, Mr Karat also warned the Manmohan Singh government not to push through the Nuke deal after the trust motion. ''We wish to warn the UPA regime not to try and husle through the deal, otherwise the country will revolt.'' ''The most recent betrayal by the UPA government was going back on its public commitment to approach the IAEA Board of Governors without facing the Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha,'' he underlined.
He said the government does not deserve to remain in office for this blatant violation of the Common Minimum Programme and its criminal neglect in tackling price rise and inflation.
Asked about his claim in terms of the numbers game during the trust vote, Mr Karat gave a broad smile and nodded in positive.
The Left sources claim that they have already got the support of as many as 273 MPs, while the magic mark is 272. They also expect at least five RJD MPs to come on their side.
The Marxist leader said the CC had endorsed the party Polit Bureau's decision to withdraw the support and its three years tirade against the Nuclear deal.
Hinting about the revival of third alternative, Mr Karat said the leaders of the four Left parties and various non-Congress and non-BJP parties will meet here on July 23 to further chalk out the course of their joint action against the deal and government.
