Congress leader Kochunni Master remembered

Kochi, Jul 20 (UNI) Congress leader Oomen Chandy today exhorted the contributions of his late colleague A A Kochunni Master and noted that he worked for the interests of the workers.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a meeting to commemorate the first death anniversary of Master, Mr Chandy said '' with his unique working style, Master was close to the workers and also a different labour leader.'' Master, who was the first Mayor of the Cochin city, took respect from everyone and had made immense contributions to the labour movement of the State.

Speaking on the occasion, KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala remembered the Master's influence on him during his formative years as a political worker.

Noted Juirst Krishna Iyer said the present society, which runs after material gains, should try to emulate the simple life led by the Master.

Social activist and orator Sukumar Azhikode, CITU leader M M Lawrence, Industrialist Yousuf Ali and others spoke on the occasion.
