Andaman gets 44 supernumerary Engineering seats in NITs
Port Blair, Jul 20 (UNI) The Union Human Resource Development Ministry has allotted 44 supernumerary engineering seats in the National Institute of Technology (NITs) for the students of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
An official release of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration said here today that a written communication in this regard had been received from the Union HRD Ministry.
The supernumerary seats were allotted after demands were made by local residents, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, local political leaders and the Lt Governor of the remote islands.
''These seats are understood to have been created specially for the islands for the ensuing academic session to cater to the requirement of the students from the Union Territory,'' the release added.
