Ambedkar's idol vandalised; panic prevails

Jaunpur, July 20 (UNI) Some unidentified miscreants vandalised a Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar's idol in Machlishehr here today, creeting panic in the area.

The miscreants barged into the house of a dalit in Matri-Mathura village and robbed him of his valuables. They also injured his cow and vandalised the statue of Baba Ambedkar, police said.

It was only when tension ripped the village , police and senior administrative officials reached the spot.

Orders were initiated to place another statue in the premises with immediate effect and policemen garrisoned to avoid any untoward incident.
