17 killed in a road accident in Etah

Etah, Jul 20 (UNI) At least 17 passengers were killed and 35 seriously injured, when a private bus carrying them collided with a truck near Mirachi here this morning.

Twelve of the victims died on the spot while others succumbed to injuries in the district hospital, police said. Injured have been admitted to hospital where condition of some has been stated to be critical.

The impact was so serious that the bus was fully damaged, according to police.

Agitated over the incident, the locals staged 'chakka jam' on Etah-Kasganj highway, The agitated mob pelted stone on the police party in which many policemen, including one Deputy Superintendent of Police were injured.

The large police posse was deployed on the highway to disperse the mob.
