Youth throws acid on girl in Jammu

Jammu, Jul 19 (UNI) A teenager girl suffered serious burn injuries when a youth threw acid on her face in Akhnoor area, some 25 km from here, police sources today said.

''The incident took place last evening at Naiwalla village when a local youth identified as Ashok Kumar, 22, threw acid on the face of a girl namely Asha Rani, 15, as she refused his proposals,'' police told UNI.

They said the youth was harassing the girl for the last few days and yesterday, they entered into a verbal dual before the incident.

The accused came with the acid bottle and threw it on the face of the girl, the police added.

The victim sustained burn injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital while the accused escaped from the spot.

Meanwhile, a case under section 326 RPC has been registered against the accused.
