TN Commercial Tax Dept launches e-governance

Tiruchirapalli, Jul 19 (UNI) The e-governance services of the Commercial Taxes Department of Tamil Nadu was launched here.

According to State Commercial Taxes Minister S N M Ubayadullah, Form 'W,' a return for input tax claims for exporters, could now be filed online through www.tnvat.gov.in.

The software for the web-based service, launched yesterday was developed in association with the National Informatics Centre.

The system would do away with the manual filing of the returns at the Commercial Taxes Office and ensure speedy disbursement of refunds.

Similarly, dealers engaged in inter-state transactions could also file request for forms sold by the Department through the website.

Heads of the assessment circles of the department would process the request and notify the dealers the date for collecting the forms.

He said the status of the requests would also be available on the website. Under the fast track clearance system, dealers can register through the website details of the goods being transported.
