SP MP Azmi denies reports of rebellion
New Delhi, Jul 19 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Abu Asim Azmi today strongly denied the reports of his rebelling from the party over the nuclear deal, alleging such reports were being spread by the communists.
''I am solidly behind SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and there is no question of my taking any stand on the issue in contradiction with my party,'' he told UNI over phone from Mumbai.
Mr Azmi said the nuclear deal was in the interest of the nation and so in the interest of the Muslims too.
Those spreading the reports of my rebelling from the party were doing it out of desperation. ''It is strange that for four years, they did not think about the Muslims and now suddendly have found the deal against the interest of the community,'' he said without naming the communist leaders.
