RPI working on strengthening party in Pondy
Puducherry, Jul 19: The Republican Party of India (RPI) National President S Rajendran said the steps were being taken to strengthen the party to have it's representatives in Parliament as well as State Assemblies.
Talking to newspersons after a meeting of the party office bearers of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry here, Mr Rajendran said the party had actively participated in several issues.
Along with Puducherry State Secretary Leon he called upon the Chief Minister and Ministers here to shed their differences and engage in works such as modernisation of the textile mills here and setting up of a 'Manimandapam' for Dr Ambedkar.
They said none of the seven private medical colleges here were willing to give 50 per cent seats to the government leaving the aspiring students to suffer.
The RPI would organise agitations to press the government to commence the government medical college here. Alleging Welfare Minister M Kandasamy was functioning in an "irresponsible' manner, they said the schemes and funds were being shared among the SC and BC ignoring Minorities.
The party would organise agitations for the removal of Mr Kandasamy from power,they added.
