Pondy Govt's 'non-functioning' has hit students: AIADMK
Puducherry, Jul 19 (UNI) AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today alleged as many as 8,000 students could not pursue higher education because of ''non-functioning'' of the government here.
Addressing the press here, Mr Anbazhagan said the nexus between ruling party and private medical college owners was affecting the future of the students.
Due to this, the government could not secure 50 per cent seats in the colleges though resolutions had been adopted in the Assembly.
In the first meeting, representatives of two medical colleges failed to turn up and in the second, those from three medical colleges abstained.
He said the government should be firm on it's decision that 50 per cent of the seats in all the medical colleges should be given to the government and in case of failure, ways should be examined for taking over all the seven private medical colleges.
