Cellphone shop ransacked
Chennai, Jul 19 (UNI) Unidentified men gained entry into a mobile phone showroom on the busy Shanmugam Salai in Tambaram, some 100 metre from the police station and decamped with over 150 cellphones amounting to over Rs 15 lakh.
Police said the incident, which took place last night, came to light when G Sivaloka Raj opened his shop in the morning to find the showroom ransacked and all mobiles, including a number of expensive ones, missing.
The thieves gained entry after drilling a hole in the wall on the backside of the shop. Police rushed to the spot with forensic experts for investigation.
The incident happening close to the police station has sent jitters among the residents of the Shanmugam Salai which is busy throughout a day.
