Bhan Singh, Jasmine excel in swimming championship

Patiala, Jul 19 (UNI) On the opening day of the two-day 35th Senior, 33rd Junior and 24th Sub-junior Patiala District Swimming Championship (boys and girls), Raja Bhan Singh in the boys junior section and Jasmine Kaur in the sub junior girls section, both from Yadavindra Public School, stole the limelight, giving spectacular performances at the Mohindra Swimming Pool here.

While Raja Bhan Singh stood first in 100m Freestyle, clocking 1:02.43 sec., Jasmine cornered glory in 50m Butterfly, returning a timing of 47.70 sec.

A couple of other swimmers too were just brilliant, like Heman from Bhupindra International Public School in Sub-junior Butterfly (41.79sec.). He also won the 100m Freestyle (1:19.00sec.) and 50m Breaststroke (48.20sec.) titles, drawing thunderous applause from the spectators; Vibhuti Syal won the 50m Butterfly in Sub-junior girls(50.91 sec.).

The meet was inaugurated by the District Sports Officer, Jasbir Kaur Brar.
