AP gears up to combat Malaria

Hyderabad, Jul 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed L V Subrahmanyam, Principal Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department, to immeditately depute a team of doctors to Srikakulam, Khammam and Visakhapatnam agency areas to take remedial measures to combat Malaria fever there.

Reacting to news reports, Dr Reddy asked the health officials to take preventive stops to ward off the diseare in the agency areas without any delay, an official release said here.

The reports said about 10,000 people in Srikakulam district and 900 hamlets along the banks of Godavari and its tributary Sabari have been identified in Khammam district as the high risk zones for Malaria, the release added.
