Sonepat, Jul 19 (UNI) As many as 23 people were arrested when they allegedly attempted to take possession of a 'disputed' land of 28 Kanals at Rajlu Garhi village under Ganaur police station last evening, police said today.
The police seized four pistols, a gun and some vehicles from their possession and registered a case aginst them. They were produced in the court last evening and remanded in judicial custody.
According a complaint lodged by Lakhmi Chand , Sarpanch of Rajlu Garhi village, he had taken the land on lease from one person till 2010 and planted paddy on it.
He complained that around two dozen persons, armed with pistols and other weapons, came to forcibly take possession of the land on the pretext that the particular land had been purchased by another person and the sale deed had been registered in Tehsil office at Ganaur on May 14.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and took 23 persons in custody.
Sources revealed the incident was the result of dispute among the relatives over the land for the past many years.
