16 die in road accident in Nepal

Kathmandu, Jul 19 (UNI) At least 16 people were killed and more than two dozens injured when a bus plunged in Trishuli river early today.

About 12 people died on the spot while four others died while being taken to hospital.

Some of the passengers were still missing, a local television said.

''The bus, going from Kathmandu to Bhairawa on Western Nepal, skidded off the road and fell in the river at Khaharey of Chitwan District,''Avenus Television said.

Rescue operation was underway while the deceased were yet to identified, the television said.
