Weapons seized from a native of UP
Mumbai, Jul 18: Police have seized arms and ammunition from a native of Uttar Pradesh in Nalasopara in the neighbouring Thane District, 50 km from here, on July 17, Thursday night.
Assistant Police Inspector Sunil Patil told the sources that police team had laid a trap and arrested Amar Singh Shivaji Singh, following a tip off about an arms exchange at a hotel in Nalasopara.
The seized arms and ammunition included foreign made and country made pistols, revolvers and 21 live cartridges, Mr Patil said.
On interrogation Singh revealed that he was a resident of Bandi Village in Uttar Pradesh, and had come to the city to deliver weapons to a robber gang that had approached him.
