ULFA ideologue remanded in judicial custody

Tezpur, Jul 19 (UNI) ULFA ideologue Bhimkanta Buragohain was today remanded in 14 days judicial custody in connection with the various charges against him under the Arms Act.

He was presented before the Tezpur Additional District Sessions Judge along with two other accomplices, who were also awarded similar sentences.

They are Bolin Das alias Amarjyoti Gogoi and Amulya Roy.

Buragohain, arrested during 'Operation All Clear' in Bhutan in 2003, was lodged in the Tezpur district jail.

A founder-member of the proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), his release has been set as a pre-condition by the group for starting direct talks with the government.
