Two rooms of a school gutted in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jul 18 (UNI) Fire broke out in a government high school damaging two rooms at Uri, about 100 km from here in north Kashmir.
Official sources said today the fire broke out in two plywood-made rooms of the government high school at Parmpila, Uri causing extensive damage to it and records and stocks.
The cause of the fire was not known, they said.
Hundreds of schools were damaged here in the earthquake on October 8, 2005. However, majority of schools were rebuilt but there are reports that a number of schools are still functioning in temporary shed and in the open.
In another incident, fire broke in a house at Wadi Mohalla, Chaterhama causing damage to it. However, no one was injured, sources said.
