Speaker assures efforts for live coverage of Assembly

Bangalore, July 18 (UNI) Karnataka Legislative assembly Speaker Jagdish Shettar today said he would make efforts to arrange for live telecast of House proceedings with an independent TV channel as in the Lok Sabha.

Mr Shettar made this observation during a debate on the budget following the objection raised by leader of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge in the assembly for limiting the telecast to presentation of the budget by the Chief Minister yesterday.

Mr Kharge said live telecast of the House proceedings would help the people to know the views of the opposition parties on the subjects coming up for discussion.

Agreeing to the suggestion for making the session transparant, the Speaker said he would make arrangements for live telecast of the coming sessions.
