Municipal official convicted in bribe case

Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) The Special Judge for ACB Cases, Vijayawada, today sentenced a senior assistant working at Gudiwada Municipality in Krishna District to one-year simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1000 in a bribery case.

G Rama Brahmam was trapped by the ACB when he accepted Rs 500 as bribe from a complainant on November 12, 2003.

Meanwhile, the State Government ordered withholding of entire pension and gratuity of a retired Village Administrative Officer (VAO) of Settur Mandal in Anantapur District following his conviction in a bribe case.

K Orugalappa, VAO of Lakshmampalli Village, was arrested by the ACB when he accepted Rs 2,500 as bribe from a complainant through his son on January eight, 1994, an official release said.
