Mamata wants UPA to seek people's verdict
Kolkata, Jul 18 (UNI) All India Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today felt that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre should seek the people's mandate before signing the Nuke deal.
Talking to newspersons here, Ms Banerjee said, '' The Indo-US Nuke deal is downgrading the dignity of Parliament and at this juncture the Manmohan Singh government should seek the people's verdict before signing the deal. '' '' Before finalising the deal agreement, the UPA should go the election for maintaining the Government's transparency, '' she asserted.
Without mentioning any party's name, she alleged that the political parties were indulging in horse-trading for the trust votes and questioned the accountability of those political parties.
To a query, Ms Banerjee said she was yet to decide on whether to take part in the Trust vote on July 22.
