Mahesh Yogi's followers launch Peace Movement

Jabalpur, July 18 (UNI) Disciples of transcendental meditation guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi today launched the Maharishi World Peace Movement on the banks of the Narmada river where the seer spent his early years.

The Movement's objective is establishing world peace and making every citizen invincible through Vedic principles and experiments.

Vishva Hindu Parishad President Ashok Singhal, who was a special guest, hoped that the Movement would evolve into a global spiritual revolution.

''Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was a great visionary and spiritual personage of this era. Fifty years back, he launched the World Peace Spiritual Re-awakening Movement here,'' he said while adding that the vision of world peace was fruitless sans development of human consciousness.

Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani, who was chief guest, said that there was an increasing tendency in the young generation to forget the past.

''Terrorism has spread its feet in every direction and the cause is lack of knowledge and wickedness,'' he added.

Earlier, Peace Movement Chairman Brahmachari Girish Verma threw light on the Movement's target, objectives and related efforts.

''Four boards of 8,000 priests each have been formed for community yajnas and ceremonies, houses are being built for 16,000 priests and Brahmanand Saraswati Nagars are being established in 48 districts,'' he explained.

Guarding one's health as per the Maharishi Vedic Health Rituals, construction and use of homes, schools, offices, villages and cities as per Vaastu principles, daily Yoga, meditation and consumption of only bio-food products are among ten principal schemes of the Peace Movement.

Committees would be formed at different levels with the target of linking at least one per cent of India's population with meditation besides imparting Yoga training to the maximum number of people.
