DMK's Puducherry unit to join fast

Puducherry, Jul 18: On a direction from the party High Command, the Puducherry unit of the DMK led by state convenor R V Janakiraman would observe a one day fast here.

In a press release here today Mr Janakiraman said the fast would be held in front of the Nehru statue on the beach road. He called upon the legislators, functionaries and caders of all wings of the party to take part in the agitation.

Mr Janakiraman also announced that a public meeting would also be held at Nellithoppe constituency.

The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu resolved to launch the agitation to protest the killing of Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy and to press the Centre to take proper action to prevent the killings.
