1 more succumbs to rain-related diseases, toll at 47
Mumbai, Jul 18 (UNI) A 20-year-old man today died of malaria at the civic-run Kasturba Hospital, taking the death toll due to rain-related diseases in the metropolis to 47, since the onset of the monsoon this year.
According to civic officials, of the 303 patients admitted in the last 24 hours, 178 patients were admitted with fever, 55 with gastroenteritis, eight with leptospirosis, two with dengue and 60 with malaria.
Meanwhile, the municipal corporation had randomly conducted malaria tests on 50,000 people, out of which 2,898 people were found suffering from the disease, following which the corporation has started intensive fogging and cleaning of drains and tanks an all the open places, the officials added.
