Student leaders victimised by CM: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, Jul 17 (UNI) Alleging victimisation of student leaders by the Uttar Pradesh government, Samajwadi Party MP and in-charge of party's youth affairs Akhilesh Yadav today met Governor T V Rajeswar and asked for his intervention in this regard.

A memorandum was handed in to the Governor by Mr Yadav urging him to direct the state government to withdraw fake cases against the student leaders in the state.

Chief Minister Mayawati had banned the student union election immediately after assuming the charge, but revoked the decision after four months of the student agitation.

Mr Yadav, son of SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav, in his memorandum alleged that various cases had been slapped on the students, who were subjected to police action out of vengeance.

He also furnished a list of 30 such students against whom the fake cases were registered during the agitation. The state administration also ordered scrutiny of the properties of their relatives and some of them were declared 'land mafia', he said.

The MP from Kannauj said the Governor should direct the state government to withdraw the cases against the students and stop their victimisation.
