Speaker rejects Dr Meena's 'conditional' resignation
Jaipur, Jul 17 (UNI) Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Sumitra Singh refused to accept 'conditional resignation' of BJP MLA and former minister Kirodi Lal Meena.
Mr Meena had submitted his resignation from Assembly membership to Ms Singh last month, in protest against the Rajasthan Government's approach over the Gujjar agitation for ST status.
Mr Meena has not attended the House sittings in this session since July 14.
The issue of Mr Meena's resignation figured in the house after Question Hour today when some members, including Mahir Azad and Zuber Khan(Congress), sought clarification from the Speaker over the status of Mr Meena's membership.
Ms Singh said Mr Meena had met her with his letter of resignation which appeared to be a 'conditional letter in nature'.
''I found Mr Meena in a state of depression and his letter was conditional in nature, therefore, I have not accepted his resignation and I do wish to meet him again at an appropriate point of time'', the speaker said.
Congress Whip Zuber Khan also tried to seek clarification over the reported resignation of Independent, Kanti Lal Meena but the Speaker did not entertain his question.
